My recovery

I had knee surgery on April 4, 2008 in Casper. I was in the hospital for 4 days and then came home which I was more than ready to do. The first few days, I had to use a walker to get around the house. I then graduated to crutches which made me much more mobile. With every passing day, I felt better, my knee could handle more weight and my motion was better. I then graduated to just one crutch and then to a cane. Right now, I can walk around the house without any aids although I am a littel tentative. I officially started physical therapy on Tuesday of this week. That is the part of the recovery that is the most difficult, you have to push the limits of the motion of the knee and it hurts a lot. I was able to drive my pickup for the first time yesterday and that went well so now I am much more independent than I have up to this point. Basically, things are going well and my knee and leg get stronger every day, I am able to do more and more every day and I can definitely see that at some point, I will be back to normal with no more constant knee pain. I'm sure I will be able to take hikes, ride my bicycle and most importantly ride the Harley. I am already very happy that I finally bit the bullet and had the surgery done. It's over now, wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it might be and I will reap the benefits every day.
